The Customs department has arrested a woman from Indira Gandhi International Airport for allegedly trying to smuggle twelve 24-carat gold bars. Officials said the woman smuggled the gold in the front pockets of her denim shorts, which she was wearing below a gown. The gold weighed 1,400 grams and is worth Rs 42.75 lakh, they said.

Commissioner of Customs (IGI Airport) Sanjay Mangal said officers intercepted a woman from Dubai Friday morning. “They stopped her after she had crossed the Green Channel at IGI Airport. After a detailed examination, it was found that she was carrying 12 gold bars in the front pockets of her denim shorts underneath her dress,” he said. ENS
