Shortly after 2 p.m. Monday, Austin rockers White Denim stood on a stage scattered with strikingly accurate recreations of iconic Austin neon signs and pummelled the empty Long Center with the fuzzy guitar riffs and heavy hitting drums of “At Night in Dreams” the lead track from their excellent 2013 album “Corsicana Lemonade.” The band was soundchecking for their appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” They are musical guests for tonight’s show, the first of five to be taped in Austin during the South by Southwest Music Conference.

White Denim are no strangers to the late night television circuit. This will be the band’s fourth spot in support of the new album that was released in October of 2013. In the last month or so they’ve logged appearances on Letterman and Conan O’Brian.

According to lead singer James Petralli the nerves before these sorts of shows are in line with what they feel for any gig.

“Mostly I’m just happy to be home,” Petralli said after the sound check. The band just wrapped up a six week tour that took them all over the country. They’ll be enjoying several weeks at home before they head out to Europe in May.

White Denim will not be playing an official SXSW showcase this year, but they are playing a day party at the Clive Bar at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The party is free and open to the public. RSVP at filtermagazine.com.
