Rihanna's Love Affair With Designer Matt Dolan Continues With This Denim Look - Billboard

After Rihanna was honored by the Parsons School of Design for her philanthropic efforts and work in design on Monday night, wearing a look by Parsons grad Matthew Adams Dolan, the star chose to wear another Dolan design, this time out and about in New York on Tuesday.

Rihanna has long championed Dolan, who is best known for his use of utilitarian fabrics and oversize denim silhouettes, recently wearing his denim-on-denim look at Coachella.

Rihanna’s latest Dolan look was another coordinated ensemble. The oversize belted jean jacket hung loosely around her shoulders and was paired with a matching deconstructed drop-crotch skirt.

The pop star isn’t Dolan’s only fan: He’s become popular within the fashion industry and has been seen on multiple A-listers, including Lady Gaga, Miranda Kerr and has been featured in W magazine, Vogue and Paper magazine.

Dolan told Billboard back in 2015 that his designs are "inspired by the mundane aspects of American life -- suburbia, Kmart, the ubiquity of jeans. I’m fascinated by the familiar. Taking something so common and making it tactile through weaving.”

Of his independent status as a designer, Dolan added: “Up until a few months ago, I’d just been so excited about the possibility of working at a big fashion house -- Rihanna and Gaga changed all that.”
