A macho style move, mastered.

Milo Ventimiglia, star of This Is Us and arguably the only good thing about those new episodes of Gilmore Girls, pulled out his Canadian tux for last night's Timex fall 2017 collection launch. The TV dad everyone wants to see die has been having a solid style year, gracing the pages of this magazine in summer suiting, breathing new life into the humble mustache, and routinely killing it on the red carpet with only one or two questionable moves—much like his character Jack Pearson on This Is Us who is better because of his flaws not despite them.

Yesterday Ventimiglia was photographed in denim flagranté attending a Timex event. His well-whiskered dark indigo jeans contrasted a crisp denim work shirt and in his hand he carried a lighter wash trucker jacket. Not a man for unnecessary extras, Ventimiglia paired his triple denim with a watch and a pair of black chunky soled moccasins and that's it.

There was a time not so many years ago that this amount of denim in one outfit would have been a no no. But in 2017 monochrome is king and a firm grasp on the tenants of tonal dressing sets you apart from a sea of basic bros. From Yeezy neutrals to Raf Simons for Calvin Klein matching jeans and western shirts, designers are embracing head-to-toe looks in a big way. And the way to nail it with denim now is by keeping your blues in close but not exact proximity to each other as well as varying the degree at which they are distressed. See Ventimiglia's three subtly different denim washes and textures.

This same look will work with tonal denim layers from stark black to light blue to bright white and everything in between. As with any bold style move, you'll want to contrast your Canadian tuxedo with accessories that take a back seat. Milo Ventimiglia looks great in his head-to-toe denim, but that doesn't mean the look is reserved for the red carpet set. In fact despite it's international moniker, this look was made for any ole average American guy.
