POUGHKEEPSIE – The Junior League of Poughkeepsie will host their 7th annual Denim & Diamonds Benefit Gala on Friday, Nov. 3, at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel from 6 – 10 pm.
Denim & Diamonds is a celebration of both the Junior League’s efforts in the community as well as the accomplishments of two special women and a local organization, all of whom share the Junior Leagues’ mission of building a better community.
The 2017 Women of the Year are: Margaret Hirst Nelson, LCSW-R (Dutchess County Department of Behavioral and Community Health & Junior League of Poughkeepsie); Marjorie J. Smith, Esq. (Grace Smith House & Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office, Retired); and the 2017 Organization of the Year is Rocky Strong.
“We will celebrate the accomplishments of these two special women and a local organization,” says Erin Cafarelli, co-chair of the 2017 Denim & Diamonds Benefit Gala with Alicia Favata. “Margaret Hirst Nelson, Marjorie Smith, and Rocky Strong all share the Junior League’s mission of building a better community.”
Proceeds from this event support the mission and programs of the Junior League of Poughkeepsie to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women, and improve communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
