Aaron Rodgers wears denim cowboy outfit to celebrate his $134M contract - Page Six

Aaron Rodgers may have just scored a deal that makes him the highest-paid player in the NFL, but he prefers to dress like a humble cowboy.

The quarterback, 34, showed up to the Welcome Back Packers Luncheon on Thursday dressed in a cowboy hat, bolo tie and matching denim jacket and jeans accessorized with a thick mustache.

In an Instagram post, the athlete explained that his Levi’s jacket was a replica of one made for Bing Crosby in 1951, when the singer invented the Canadian tuxedo.

Rodgers enlisted Mark Avery, the costume designer who worked on “La La Land” and “Battle of the Sexes,” to pull the statement-making recreation together.

“He mentioned he was thinking of returning to the denim theme and, being someone that has a great affinity for both denim and history, I instantly thought it would be fun to play off of the historic Bing Crosby denim tuxedo,” Avery told Page Six.

According to Avery, there are only 200 replicas of the look ever made, and the one Rodgers wore will go in the Levi’s archive. Serious Crosby fans can buy one of the few replicas owned by private dealers for $4,000 on eBay.

A few of Rodgers’ teammates joined in on the theme, including DeShone Kizer and Tim Boyle, who wore denim overalls and a bolo tie.

The Packers’ annual game of dress-up, though seemingly wacky, stems from superstition. In 2010, some players wore cowboy hats to the annual luncheon to signify their hope to make it to that year’s Super Bowl, which was to be held in Dallas, Texas, according to the Washington Post.

Not only did the team make the cut, but they also beat the Steelers. Since then, Rodgers has arrived in costume to every luncheon, sporting star-spangled shirts and bandanas, a fighter pilot costume and a “Men In Black”-inspired suit and sunglasses.

Expect more attention-grabbing looks from the NFL’s richest player in the future.
