12th Annual Denim Drive held to benefit abused and neglected infants, children and teens

A Kick-off FUNdraiser in Reno on Sunday, November 18 at Bundox Bocce to raise funds for abused and neglected infants, children and teens.

The event, promoted by KBUL 98.1, featured live country music, a 50/50 raffle and bocce play in support of the annual Denim Drive which began Nov. 12 and runs through Dec. 31.

The Kick-off FUNdraiser, presented by the Associated General Contractors of Nevada and Jaguar/Land Rover of Reno, featured a live acoustic performance by country recording artist Riley Green and local favorite, Andi Kilgore.

Through Dec. 31 more than 100 locations will host donation bins to collect new jeans, new socks, new shirts and new underwear to be given to abused and neglected infants, children and teens who have been rescued from unsafe homes.

An interactive map with all donation locations can be accessed on the Reno Rodeo Foundation website by clicking here.

Donors can also donate a “Dollar for Denim” at Famous Dave’s, Plumas Bank and all Papa Murphy’s locations and Nevada State Bank branches through Northern Nevada with 100 percent of every dollar donated used to purchase additional new clothing throughout the year. Famous Dave’s is giving away a $5 gift certificate for every customer who brings in a clothing items or donates $10 for the “Dollar for Denim” throughout the entire drive.

“Over the past 12 years, the Denim Drive has provided comfort to more than 40,000 infants, children, and teens with essentials of new clothing and this year we will purchase new books,” explained Clara Andriola, Reno Rodeo Foundation executive director. “These donations create a frame of mind. Giving new clothes to a child as they begin their foster care journey or a new book for a child attending family court proceedings in Washoe County offers a sense of well-being and comfort and sends a deeper message that someone cares about them.”

Donors can also make monetary donations online via PayPal on the Reno Rodeo Foundation website in addition to making donations over the phone or by mailing a check to the Reno Rodeo Foundation.
