Denim is one of those wardrobe staples that transitions beautifully from season to season, can be dressed up or down, and is available in a variety of styles. Whether you’re into a jean with a flare, “mom” jeans or simple skinny jeans, we’re showing off some styles that you can pair with anything all while letting your denim personality shine. This month’s looks are all styled from Oak Hall with the backdrop of Corky’s new event space, Venue 901. Let’s get to styling!
DENIM TREND: FLARE JEANS
Look #1:
Flare jeans are hot right now. Add a boho-chic top for a more casual look, or elevate the denim with something more refined, like this off-white silk tank, which can easily transition from workday to happy hour. Add a little heel or bootie, and you’re ready for the night!
Where to wear it:
The 43rd Annual Central Gardens Home & Garden Tour is back and takes place on September 8 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The homes this year are walkable — they’re all located around an area of Central Avenue, with the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in the center. There will be three updated historic homes along with three newly constructed homes. This year, the tour will also include an artists’ market featuring local makers and food trucks.
The Memphis Botanic Garden’s Backyard Bash, on September 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., is a family-friendly gathering with nature crafts, activities and treats. Later that evening, enjoy an adults-only fundraising event that will have live music, an open bar, live football streaming, a silent auction, backyard games and more. All funds raised will help support the upkeep and maintenance of My Big Backyard spaces and future educational activities and projects.

DENIM TREND: DISTRESSED JEANS
Look #2:
We’re loving these distressed black jeans with an on-trend frayed hem. Get wild by pairing them with this snakeskin patterned tank. Add a blazer or cozy cardigan when the temperature starts to drop, and the entire outfit makes an effortlessly chic statement.
Where to wear it:
Shotguns and Sunflowers on September 5 at 6 p.m. is a unique event that raises funds while bringing awareness to the Palmer Home for Children. It first started as a dinner party but has grown to be a celebrated event with a “Garden and Gun” theme that highlights culinary deliciousness, live music, tasty drinks and Southern culture, and the attire is described as “Delta casual.”
Another option is Art on the Rocks at Dixon Gallery and Gardens, taking place on September 6 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This event will feature mixed drinks, craft beer, and mocktails as well as food from some top local restaurants.

DENIM TREND: NEUTRAL JEANS
Look #3:
Comfy and cozy is the name of the game this fall. The fashion gurus at Oak Hall are noticing a rise in neutral jeans perfect for pairing with anything in your closet. Here, we’ve styled them with a warm, brown, drapey top that’s the ultimate transition weather piece.
Where to wear it:
Vive le Que at Wiseacre Brewing Company takes place on September 19 at 6 p.m. Head over to Wiseacre Brewing Company for a night of food, craft beers and wine, specialty cocktails, and open-flame cooking. Take a short brewery tour, enjoy a beer pairing, try your hand at pint glass painting, play some corn hole, enjoy live music and so much more!

DENIM TREND: WHITE FLARES
Look #4:
What’s more fun than white flares? We love this pair for any time of year! If you want to be a total rebel, wear them even after Labor Day. Yep, you read that right. When it comes to fashion, we like to think there are no rules.

Vintage901 Underground Low Country Seafood Boil takes place on September 28 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. As of right now it is at a secret location, but more details will come later! This evening promises tasty wines, craft beer, and snacks, as well as live art and music. The dress code is casual as it will likely be outdoors. An auction and wine pull are also on the evening’s agenda.

DENIM TREND: CLASSIC DISTRESSED
Look #5:
Weekend wear just got a lot more simple. Slip on your favorite distressed denim, and throw on a graphic tee — they are totally on trend, and we love it! Grab a belt and throw on your favorite heels or sneakers, and you’re ready to roll out the door.
Where to wear it:
Cooper-Young Festival takes place on September 14 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Held in the largest historic district in Memphis and one of the most highly attended festivals in the city, this event will host artists from around the country and offers a chance to purchase items as well. It’s a true celebration of people, culture, arts and Memphis heritage.
Barktober Fest is scheduled for September 28 at Shops of Saddle Creek from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. All ticket proceeds benefit Streetdog Foundation and include a souvenir tasting cup and the chance to try 20 home-brews. Enjoy live music, a photo booth, pinball, pool, food trucks, dog adoptions and more.
