Reno Rodeo Foundation's annual 13th Denim Drive begins - KOLO

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Reno Rodeo Foundation (RRF) launched its 13th annual Denim Drive this week. The goal is to collect new clothing items and financial donations to support abused and neglected children who have been rescued from unsafe homes.

RRF’s President Jeff Turnipseed said the donations are necessities for the children. “As our population grows in this county and others, so grows, the population of kids that have drawn the short end of the stick and they need some comfort items and essentials,” said Turnipseed.

Since 2006 RRF and its supporters have helped over 65,000 children. Sierra Air said it’s happy to support the drive. Ben Van Meter with Sierra Air said, “Ron Ford who is our owner, he encourages us all to get involved in something bigger than ourselves and I cannot think of a better charity to give to than the kids, this is the youth of Reno.”

During the Denim Drive more than 130 locations throughout all 14 Northern Nevada counties will have donation bins to collect new jeans, new socks, new shirts and new underwear.

The drive will go through the end of December.
