Now Lives A one-bedroom walk-up apartment in NoLIta, which she also uses as her studio. “Have you seen ‘Raging Bull’? You know, when his wife is making him dinner in their place in NoLIta? I’m like, ‘Did they film this at my house?’”

Claim to Fame A rising star in fashion photography, Ms. Gorna is known for her elegant, if risqué, portraits of women’s rear ends, often clad in tight jeans. While her fashion work is prominent (it has appeared in the pages of Vogue, T: The New York Times Style Magazine and Rolling Stone, as well as for Calvin Klein, Saks Fifth Avenue and Nike), it is her derriere-centric photographs that have built her reputation. “I have a very intimate portrayal of women, but in a way that doesn’t feel exploitative,” she said.

Big Break Ms. Gorna credits her first shoot with Vogue, in its September 2011 issue, as a jumping off point. She composed a portrait of Tine Peduzzi and Luisa Orsini, proprietors of the bag line TL-180, by the West Side Highway. Larger projects, both fashion and commercial, soon followed.

Latest Project “It was a busy summer,” Ms. Gorna said. “I worked with Levi’s and Nike.” Her only break was a short trip to Amagansett, N.Y. “I took a vacation on the beach. It was magical. I didn’t see anyone. I just stayed by the beach and hung out with two girlfriends, and went on long runs. My Instagram says it all.”

Next Thing She photographed Langley Fox Hemingway, an artist and the great-granddaughter of Ernest Hemingway, in Hawaii for the September issue of Playboy magazine. “I shot her naked, in a field of bougainvillea.” Aren’t the days of Playboy nudity over? “She drew illustrations on top of her nudity,” Ms. Gorna added.

Her Book In June, she self-published a photography book, “100 Cheeks,” featuring the jeans-covered posteriors of friends and colleagues including Jemima Kirke, Vashtie Kola, Pamela Love, Noot Seear and Myla Dalbesio, a plus-size lingerie model. The book, which garnered widespread coverage in Vogue, People, Daily Mail and elsewhere, is sold at Urban Outfitters and online.
