She has been busy campaigning for Hillary Clinton ahead of the presidential election next month.

But all focus was on Lena Dunham on Monday as she headed to a night out in New York City while showing off her shapely legs.

The 30-year-old looked great in a striped denim mini-skirt as she strolled through Soho with friends.

Legging it around New York: Lena Dunham showed off her shapely legs while heading out in the Big Apple on Monday 

Lena also wore a bright pink top with white detailing and peach satin sandals. 

Earlier in the day the Girls creator showed off her clear complexion as she opted to go makeup free, while wearing a Hillary Clinton T-shirt.

Lena sported a purple jacket and tight jeans for the outing as she slung a black bag over her shoulder.

The 5ft3in star elevated her height with open toe heels as she wore her hair tied into a tight bun.

She was later seen getting out of a hired car while carrying a shopping bag as a handsome attendant helped her out of the vehicle. 

Meanwhile, Lena is being touted as the driving force behind 'nasty woman' trending on Twitter after the last presidential debate.

Female unpleasantness as a tongue-in-cheek rallying cry is on T-shirts, in memes and in tweets galore - a furious backlash mocking Donald Trump's latest insult of Hillary Clinton.

Trump's diss - 'such a nasty woman' - came during one of his interruptions of his Democratic rival in Wednesday's final presidential debate.

Social media lit up as women came to Clinton's defense. 

'RT if you're a nasty woman and it's made your life a freakin' pleasure,' Dunham tweeted at the time.

Trending immediately afterwards were the hashtags #ImANastyWoman, #ImANastyWomanBecause, #NastyWomenVote and #NastyWomanUnite. 

Trump's comment came in response to a dig from Clinton to the effect that the Republican nominee - who has bragged about his savviness in avoiding paying taxes - might also try to get out of chipping in toward the nation's pension and health insurance programs.

In their third and final debate before the November 8 election, Trump accused Clinton and her campaign team of drumming up allegations that he has groped almost a dozen women.

'I believe,' Trump said, 'she got these people to step forward,' accusing Clinton of running a 'very sleazy campaign' and adding of the claims aired by several women dating back decades: 'It was all fiction.'

'Donald thinks belittling women makes him bigger,' Clinton said.

'He goes after their dignity, their self-worth, and I don't think there is a woman anywhere who doesn't know what that feels like.'
