Brooklyn Beckham's Denim Game Is Very, Very Good Right Now - GQ Magazine

The kid's got all the good jeans...and genes.

Unlike other famous style rebels his age—Jaden Smith, Rocco RitchieBrooklyn Beckham's style follows in his old man's footsteps, which is to say it never veers too far away from classic. While the 18-year-old freshman photography major embraces plenty of trends, he always tempers them with every-man favorites like lace-up boots, pocket T-shirts, tailored topcoats, and, of course, lots of denim. A good pair of jeans, after all, is the easiest and oldest trick in the book for looking empirically, unimpeachably handsome. Here, six denim essentials Brooklyn Beckham's leaned on over the last few days, which we believe all deserve a spot in your closet, too. The cool teen's preference for flat caps and grunge flannels might not be for you, but these staples surely are.

Grunge God

Brooklyn's oversized denim jacket is a good, right-now spin on this staple outerwear. The fact that he's wearing it like an '80s sport coat gives it even more attitude. But even if flipped collars and light washes aren't for you, a denim jacket with a little room to move around, or a boxy cut, will achieve a similar DGAF vibe.

Of course, pairing this jacket with distressed black jeans cut in a straight, cigarette fit will up the rebel vibe even further. The difference between this fit and just a pair of ordinary skinny jeans is in the rise of the pants, which is slightly higher for a vintage look, and the total lack of stretchiness in the denim.

Retro King

Denim brands make some of the best basic T-shirts on the planet. Levi's Vintage Clothing's cropped pocket T-shirts are a GQ favorite. Niche denim brand Imogene and Willie makes a solid one too. If you want to go full Dazed and Confused follow Brooklyn's lead and lean on Wrangler for faded graphics and rounded necklines.

Counteracting the faded, beat-up quality of the T-shirt with a pair of cuffed jeans is good thinking on Brooklyn's part. Cut in a straight fit with a dark wash, they keep the whole thing looking more '50s rebel than hippie kid. Truth be told, there will technically never be a bad time to put these jeans. Which is good because, the more you wear them, the better they're going to look.

Polished Prince

For those moments when you want to wear jeans but need to look respectable, a denim shirt and a pair of slim black jeans is your express ticket to handsome town. If the whole jean shirt thing is too cowboy for you, follow Brooklyn's lead and sport a button-down in a denim adjacent indigo color. Otherwise, a dark wash denim shirt is where it's at. Everlane makes one that has the lightness and wearability of any Oxford cloth shirt, and it's cheap too.

Avoid the "do my denim washes work together" conundrum of wearing double denim by going for slim-cut black jeans on bottom. There isn't a man alive who doesn't look good in this style of denim and, in many ways, they'll take you farther than even your go-to baby blues. Those jeans can't pass as trousers, but these do.
