We’ve seen quite a few interesting denim trends this year. Namely, thong jeans, invisible jeans, clear-knee jeans, mud jeans, and the list goes on. It’s not often, however, that we get to see these types of styles off the runway and in real life. This was until Demi Lovato came along and graced us with a very interesting take on denim. On the red carpet before her performance at the Jingle Ball, Demi rocked denim chaps paired with a black bodysuit and denim jacket. While we applaud Demi’s DGAF attitude when it comes to style, there were some people on Twitter who were genuinely confused with the choice. One user even compared it to the Little Nephew character in the Webcomic Achewood and the reaction to their tweet was sheer respect.
While this particular denim look is causing a stir amongst Demi Lovato lovers, it’s not entirely outside of the norm of what she typically wears to perform. We’ve seen her in chaps and garters in the past, though never of the denim variety. With a new album underway, it looks like we have plenty more fearless style moments to look forward to. And Nephew comparison or not, we’re here for it.
