Year after year, when the rain finally subsides and the feeling of spring has begun to take effect, Vogue goes west to Los Angeles to toast the very fabric that binds the city together—denim. This year, the fete welcomed the likes of Billy Idol, Gillian Jacobs, Troye Sivan and Jacob Bixenman, and Soko, who all ventured downtown to the new NoMad Hotel, where on the mezzanine of the hotel lobby, tables lined with bright pink peonies welcomed the denim-clad crew. A line of Teslas backed up at valet, while inside, designers such as Scott Sternberg, Juan Carlos Obando, Stephanie Danan and Justin Kern, and Irene Neuwirth mingled among their friends gathered by the bar.
After a dinner prepared by chef Daniel Humm comprised of radicchio salad with buffalo mozzarella and a beef tenderloin paired with green garlic pomme puree and snap peas, guests took their tequilas upstairs to the roof, where dessert and the city view kept conversation going well into the evening—just before grabbing a vase of peonies and heading back out into the bustle of downtown Los Angeles.
