White Denim will release their newly revealed studio album Performance via City Slang on August 24. The Austin, Texas-based band announced several new tour dates in support of the record and shared its first single, “Magazin.”
The follow-up to 2016’s Stiff, features White Denim guitarist James Petralli and bassist Steve Terebecki, along with keyboardist Michael Hunter and former NRBQ drummer Conrad Choucroun. The nine tracks on Performance were recorded in Austin at the band’s Radio Milk recording facility, which is a renovated building built for to be a general store in 1902.
“There is something absurd and isolating in continuing this pursuit for personal connection on such a wide scale,” said Petralli. “When writing an album I essentially leave my actual life, retreat deeper into myself and as it nears completion, I evaluate my work based on my own extremely skewed notion of what is widely relatable and still legitimately cool. My idea of cool is most significantly shaped by Steve’s body language when we are talking through ideas in session.”

White Denim will tour extensively in the coming months, trekking across North America from June through October. They then head to Europe for shows in November. Tickets to the newly confirmed headlining appearances go on sale on Friday, May 11.
