Editor's Pick: Mih's Sustainable Denim Kimono - Daily Front Row (blog)

What: This perfect little three-season jacket features a dark denim rinse with contrasting cream stitching, curved seams, and a self-tie belt. Made of certified organic cotton, dyed and finished with certified low-impact treatments, including an innovative laser technology and water-reducing wash, it is probably the most sustainable (new) denim jacket on the market today. It’s also just plain cute as hell!

Who: M.i.h is a member of the Alliance for Responsible Denim, which is involved in exploring the future of post-consumer recycled denim. They are one of the most (if not the most) sustainable denim brands around and their five-piece Paradise capsule collection, of which this kimono is a part, is the brand’s most sustainable collection to date.

By 2020, M.i.h plans to be a leader in the use of post-consumer recycled cotton, launching a jeans recycling service for customers and working together to close the loop by allowing old denim to be recycled into new denim.

Why: The fashion industry is one of the most polluting industries in the world. M.i.h knows this and they are doing everything they can to reduce their impact, focusing on high-quality pieces that last rather than fast-fashion trash. The denim used in the Paradise capsule collection was specially developed for M.i.h in partnership with ISKO, the only denim mill in the world to be awarded the EU Ecolabel and Nordic Swan Ecolabel environmental certifications. It is literally the most sustainably-produced denim available today.
