Newport Beach-native Elena Bonvicini started reconstructing vintage denim when she was 16. “I would visit my grandparents in the Midwest and I didn’t really have anything to do so I’d go thrift shopping,” Bonvicini says. “I fell in love with all the possibilities (in) upcycling denim.” She sold her designs at her high school and used her initials to create her brand name.
EB Denim’s popular OG Reinvented jeans ($287) were born after Bonvicini took a sewing class and learned she could create a pair of women’s jeans by by reconstructing a pair of men’s vintage Levi’s 501s into a women’s fit.
The South Coast Plaza pop-up opened Nov. 16 and will run until the end of January. Customers can find exclusive pieces including tie-dye pants ($305) and vintage tees ($50 to $200), as well as the OG Reinvented and Two-Tone jeans ($297), both worn by Gigi Hadid.
Stop by the store on November 30 for an event celebrating the opening of the pop up as well as Bonvicini’s 21st birthday. Attendees can enjoy 21 percent off the store, drinks, and retro-style hors d’oeuvres.
