A strong case for the vintage patched jean jacket.

Brooklyn Beckham is living his best 18-year-old life. Since he graduated from high school earlier this year, he has moved to New York to study photography, released a book of his own photos, and picked up something like eight tattoos and maybe a motorcycle in the process. He's also recently been traveling through Europe with his girlfriend, actress Chloe Moretz, and stacking his wardrobe with perfectly broken-in, just-get-on-a-plane denim to suit his city-hopping lifestyle.

Beckham's most recent acquisition is a vintage trucker jacket (we're guessing Levi's from the '80s), which he picked up at What Goes Around Comes Around in New York and promptly covered with patches. He's worn the jacket in New York, Dublin, and everywhere in between, and he's dressed it up and down. The beauty of the thing is that it's classic and comfortable, and since it has so much going on, it makes every ordinary pair of jeans or pants look dope.

Whether you're an 18-year-old with a 40-year-old's bank account, or a 40-year-old on a slightly more...limited shopping budget, a jacket like this is worth having. If you're not the type to saunter into a vintage store (Brooklyn is definitely a saunterer) and dropping some coin on a pitch-perfect trucker, there are several other ways to make this look your own. Start here: Levi's recently released a capsule collection of patched denim pieces exclusively at Macy's and the trucker jackets are pretty good—and affordable too.

If you want something more unique, you can add patches to your blank trucker jacket at the Tailor Shops inside Levi's stores (see the list here). Customization services include tailoring ($40 and up) and embroidery ($35 and up): yours can fit like a glove and say your name, too. If you need inspiration on how to patch your jacket up, check out the 50 one-of-a-kind trucker jackets customized by icons and influencers in honor of the staple's 50th anniversary this year. Our own Will Welch even made his own.

We can't really think of a reason to stray from Levi's—it's the classic—but if you're interested in other patched options, plenty of brands are doing them right now. Saint Laurent's version in particular is very, very good—and will set you back a Saint Laurent amount of money.
